Planning is already underway for the summer 2019 trip to Eastern Europe sponsored by Hayfield history teachers and Education First (EF) Tours, a trusted international education tour organization. Staff collaborated with EF Tours for an expedition to London, Paris and Madrid in the summer of 2017 and will be traveling to Italy and Greece this summer.

Led by social studies teacher Tim Busch, students, families and chaperones will travel for ten days in July, 2019, through the major cities of Eastern Europe, spending time in Berlin, Prague, Krakow and Budapest.

After a transatlantic flight to Berlin, Germany, participants will have a guided tour of the city, visiting attractions such as Checkpoint Charlie and remains of the Berlin Wall.

Following two days in Berlin, the group will travel through Dresden, Germany, to Prague, Czech Republic, where they will spend another two days touring the country’s capital and exploring points of interest such as Prague Castle, John Lennon Wall and St. Vitus Cathedral.

On day six of the trip, students will travel to Krakow, Poland, and visit the local attractions of St. Mary’s Basilica, Wawel Cathedral and Glowny Square, with the second day spent touring the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum, located about one hour from the city.

The last destination is Budapest, Hungary, where the group will explore attractions such as Fisherman’s Bastion, Heroes’ Square and Castle Hill for two days before concluding the trip.

Being over a year away from the summer of 2019, the exact date of the tour is not finalized as of now, but the dates of July 12-21 have been requested, with the earliest departure date of July 8 and latest return date of July 25.

The total price of $3,867 per student includes airfare, transportation, hotels, breakfast and dinner, entrance fees, travel gear and a Global Travel Protection Plan. While the expense may seem costly, students can receive a $200 discount if they enroll by Apr. 26, 2018, with a $95 deposit.

There are only 40 spots reserved for Hayfield, so go to eftours.com/2061002WD or call 800-665-5364 to sign up. See Busch in room 2405 for any questions or concerns.
