There are still four days left in Hayfield’s first ever snack drive, a one week campaign sponsored by the newly-founded Pantry Club, along with English teacher Victoria Wuerfel and science teacher Julia Riley. The drive will take place through Tuesday, April 17 to Monday, April 23. Sponsors are urging students to bring in snacks such as granola bars and canned goods to their SOAR teachers, and by Monday, the two classes that collected the most snacks will be rewarded with a Krispy Kreme donut party. The objective is to provide food and snacks for hungry students attending the school who would not have access to them at home. After the collection period concludes on April 23, the distribution of the snacks will occur in the school. A pantry-type room will be set up, which will replace a former ESOL textbook closet, and hungry students will be able to go in and grab a snack in the “Hawk Box.”
